Our experience also tells us that people find it tough to ask for help when they are troubled. Just the thought of asking for help, or disclosing mental health issues, can cause anxiety and stress for workers. They fear for the impact on their job, and on their relationship with colleagues.
To encourage people to seek help when they need it, workplaces benefit from having a proven Employee Assistance Program in place to ensure individuals in the workforce have access to expert help when needed. Having help available for individuals also benefits managers who don't have the skills or expertise to deal with some people's complex personal issues. An Employee Assistance Program ensures staff have access to support from a third party, offering them the security of knowing their privacy is protected and their colleagues and managers won't be privy to their personal issues.
